OctopusThe Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre is the science hub for the festival and it’s right in the heart of Snug Cove.

Along with special events below, the SCMDC has a diverse range of engaging displays and exhibits where kids can get up close and personal with an anemone or crab in the touch tank, microscopes where they can make explore the depths of our creatures and tanks where they can watch marine life rest and feed.

The centre will close briefly at 3pm, reopening between 5pm and 6pm for a presentation from Haans Siver, Sea Shepherd’s Quartermaster aboard the Steve Irwin.

Special events:

11am and 2pm Fossil Dig

Be a marine paleontologist and dig for buried fossils and discover what lies beneath. Runs for 20 minutes. Numbers are limited.

1pm Fish feeding

Come in and see the fish enjoy their lunch and hear all about the different species from our marine guide. Runs for 10 minutes.
