Dragon boating has been very popular on the Sapphire Coast for the past 10 years, with two clubs, Sapphire Water Dragons and Zen Dragon Boat Club both based in Merimbula.
Very recently, members of these two clubs have voted to amalgamate and this parade is the first public display of unity.
A full crew consists of 20 paddlers, a sweep at the back and a drummer at the front to keep time.
Members of the newly formed Merimbula Water Dragons can be as energetic or as laid back as they like, with world champions and social paddlers combining several times a week to enjoy the beautiful waterways of the south east.
