For the third year running, the Port Authority of New South Wales is a major Festival sponsor and supporter of our popular recycling competition – Repurpose It.

Our 2018 Repurpose It junior competition winner Sienna, from Eden, with her winning entry and prize cheque.

Paul Webster, Harbour Master, Port Authority of New South Wales says the Authority’s support for Repurpose It reflects its focus on clean waterways and marine environments.

“We are, again, extremely proud to be a major sponsor of the 2019 Eden Whale Festival. This sponsorship serves two of our primary goals for Port Authority in Eden. One, being a demonstration of our commitment to the town and to its economic future and recognition of the key role we play in protecting Eden’s pristine port environment. In conjunction with The Repurpose It competition, which provides a powerful way to promote the message of the importance of sustainability and the need to reuse, reduce and recycle”

The Repurpose It competition aims to bring out community passion for putting recycled materials to good use. People of all ages – from pre-schoolers through to adults –  are encouraged to get creative by producing a piece of art, a furniture item, clothing or anything useful, out of materials that might otherwise wind up as waste.  The scope of the finished product is limited only by imagination.

The competition is a fun way to increase awareness of the need to reuse and reduce waste.

“We’re thrilled to have the Port Authority on board again this year. Their continued support is very much valued by the committee and by the community” said Mick Sawers, President of the Eden Whale Festival Committee. “They’re a key partner in Eden’s economy and we’re very grateful that they continue to be committed to supporting our festival.

Our annual festival is much loved by the community and by regular visitors from far and wide and has been a great community celebration for going on 23 years now. We’re so looking forward to our town coming alive with music, markets, performances and the famous street parade”.
