Breathtaking photography, clever repurposing and wonderful ways with woodwork. There’s plenty of scope for creative types in the lead up to the 2019 Eden Whale Festival.

We can only imagine the fevered preparations going on across the region and further afield as entrants finalise their creations ready to submit them from late October.

There’s still time to come up with your thing of beauty! You can find entry forms on our Forms page.

All Festival weekend, entries will be on display at the Port Authority Exhibition Centre, 197 Imlay Street. Don’t forget the Wheelers Seafood Restaurant sponsored Exhibition Centre launch kicks off at 5.30pm on Friday  November 1.

Repurpose It

This one’s sponsored by the Port Authority in Eden, proud to once again support this competition and demonstrate its commitment to the town, its economic future and its role in protecting Eden’s pristine port environment.

People of all ages – from pre-schoolers through to adults – are encouraged to get creative by producing a piece of art, a furniture item, clothing or anything useful, out of materials that might otherwise wind up as waste.

The competition is a fun way to increase awareness of the need to reuse and reduce waste.

Entry forms are due 25 October and can be emailed to admin@edenwhalefestival.com.au, posted to PO Box 646, Eden NSW 2551, or dropped off at the Eden Visitors Information Centre. Entries are to be delivered to the Exhibition Centre, 197 Imlay Street Eden between 2.00pm and 4.00pm on Wednesday 30 October.

This year’s photography competition theme is “Our Seaside Town” and its sub-theme is “Show us Your Whales”.

There are three (3) categories and prizes will be awarded in all categories.

Categories are as follows:

Adult Open
Youth (13-18 years)
Junior (12 & under)

Thanks to our generous sponsors, the Eden Lioness Club, and Harvey Norman at Tura Beach there is $600 in prizes to be given away. An additional prize of tuition with professional photographer Phill Small will also be awarded.

Entries close Monday 28 October 2019 and must be submitted by that date, with your entry form, to either Art on Imlay or the Eden Visitor Information Centre.

Artists Who Wood

Sponsored by Forestry Corporation of NSW, this competition acknowledges the important relationships between the festival, forestry and tourism. The Corporation encourages visitors to explore the State Forests during their time enjoying the Festival.

Three categories are available for woodworkers to enter– Open, Unplugged and School/TAFE (under 18).

There is no competition theme, let your imagination fly! Any item can be entered, just as long as it’s made primarily from wood.

Prize allocations are: open winner $1000, open runner up $300, unplugged winner $500, unplugged runner up $200 and school winner $500.

Entry forms are due 25 October. Email them to admin@edenwhalefestival.com.au or drop them at Eden Visitors Information Centre. Entries are to be delivered to the Exhibition Centre, 197 Imlay Street Eden between  2.00pm and 4.00pm on Wednesday 30 October.
